Mysore trip

So, I was in Mysore yesterday. Official trip. Alone.

Left Bangalore about 12Noonish. With the road under construction, and a very disciplined and steady KSRTC driver, I reach Mysore around 3.30PMish. Hunger strikes, but I wanna get back to B'lore by night so I give it a skip.

The auto ride to the company office somewhere outside the city set me back by 100 bucks. But the company pays, so I'm not cribbing! :P

Around 7PM, the work's done. While I ponder how the hell I'm going to haul my ass back to the Bus station, the kind man who was with me the whole afternoon offers to give me a ride back to town.
So, on the way back he decides to take me around the city and show me the palace in all its colours. It's Dassara time and the whole town is sparkling with all the light. Instead of admiring the beauty of the place, I'm wondering how much energy this town must be wasting in this pointless excercise. Ok ok, maybe its not pointless but still ...

And then I saw the palace. I was speechless for a moment, coz it looked really really beautiful with the lights and all. I've been to Mysore before and have seen the Palace a few times, but there's nothing like seeing it by night during Dussera. I mean it.

After staring at the palace like a country bumpkin for a couple of minutes, we headed back to the bus station for my trip back to B'lore.

I had only one regret. I didn't have a camera. :(

Arrghhh...you ...you...plastic mug!!!! :P

I really do. But I can't afford it right now. :(

Some things are better remembered in you that the camera. :)

Yeah! Atleast this one is going to be remembered like that. Unless I get another such opportunity.

mysore palace durin navratri..... priceless!

This would put Midas to shame.

Yes, the palace seemed to have come straight out of a fairy tale.

It looks as if the palace is just a creation of the lights! Almost unreal.

I'm wondering how much energy this town must be wasting in this pointless excercise---i totally agree

Yes, the amount of lighting sure must've consumed an outrageous amount of electricity. I mean, decorate the palace-sure, but why three lines of lighting on top of every road? Beats me.

hey. :) i came upon your LJ after going thru one of my friend's... i guess. but i just wanted to say that i really like your layout. it looks so classy. and you have some interesting entries. :) if you don't mind, maybe i'll pop by once in awhile. heh.

Sure. No problem with that. Adding you to my Friends list. :)
